Extension of wires of VMB8PBU push button module

Hello,
In the manual of the push button input module I read “DO NOT extend the connection wires for the pushbuttons.”
Under what conditions can this be deviated from?
This is important to me because I want to implement Velbus in an existing house where I cannot always hide a push button module in the spare room behind the pushbutton.
