Velbus8 is a great software to configure our Velbus bus… but I think that some features still missing or not enough easy to use :
Drag’n drop :
I still not use it because I don’t know how it works ! if I select a module on the left panel, I couldn’t drop it on modules which aren’t visible (I’ve more than 50 modules and a little screen 1280x800). Multiple selection is attended to drag many buttons on a relay channel’s for example
Wizard :
Only apply to all module. It would be nice to have the possibility to create group and then to apply action on groups and not all module. Example : toggle all blinds, down all lights, …
Sync :
autosync is a little boring because writing at each change… but if I right click on a module and ask ‘Sync’, I have to check manually the module then click write. Is it possible to click multiples modules then right-click [Sync] and these modules are selected ? at least one module…
It would be great to add a temp page where all Temp modules are read to show Celsius in each room.
For the rest, it’s a great enhancement since v6 : continue
Drag&drop to create an action is only handy if both channels that compose the action are visible like you said. In other cases you just double-click one of the channels to open the New Action dialog. The third and standard way is to press the Add button in the Action Overview when on a channel. I think we’re already stretching the limits with multi-selection and drag&drop, because combinations can get very intricate.
Wizards to simplify batch tasks are still being considered, it might seem easy at first but it is difficult to create a versatile wizard. In the current version you can already create a simple ‘All On’ or ‘All Off’, or copy all actions of a button to another button by dragging with CTRL pressed (copy).
Synchronization will be changed in the future to preselect the modules you have selected in the Navigation Tree, just like you said, so good news for you there… We’re also waiting to see how people react to the way in which synchronization works in VelbusLink 8 and how it can be improved.
The temperature overview can be opened by pressing F11 or selecting View -> Heating Management from the main menu. You will need to be connected to be able to open this dialog.

Well, in other automation software I’ve seen, there is often two panels : one for input and one for actuator. Drag’n Drop is more easy.
An other way is to create group (example: group object is ‘floor blinds’ and contains ‘WMB2BL’ channel 1 + …) then, apply an action on this group would automaticaly create action for each modules in the group.
That’s a good news ! I know that programming is long and hard, so I would really help you to enhance this software.
I’ve to retry this menu
All these ideas would increase the simplicity for starting the installation. As mentionned, I’ve 13 VPM4PD, 13 x VMB8PB… and starting my configuration will take me many days because I’ve to program one by one…
What’s the difference on Blind module for “UP”, “UP immediately” and Toggle “UP/DOWN” is “UP immediately/DOWN immediately” or “UP/DOWN”
In Velbuslink 8.1.7, I selected 4 push buttons and drap’n drop on a relay (lamp) : it ask me for kind of action (Toggle, Timer, etc.) but when I click [OK], only the first push button is recorded. Normal
In F11, view heating management, I change the mode of sensor (from Confort to Safe) and click OK. Nothing is done… but if I change something in main program, sensors module are written. Normal
If a blind is moving up, and you press DOWN, then the blind will halt. Press down again and the blind will move down. When the blind is moving up and you press IMMEDIATELY DOWN, then the blind will halt for a second (safeguard) and start moving down.
You can only attach one button to one relay at a time, since the dialog that opens next does not support/show multiple buttons. So when selecting multiple buttons and dragging it to a relay, the software will take the first button of the selection.
The dialog you get in heating management is the same you get when you operate a channel (Play button) in the Project Navigation tree. This only sends commands and thus does not need to write anything to memory. The configuration dialog on the other hand always has something to do with memory, and will write to memory if it notices anything has changed (which doesn’t necessarily mean functionality has changed, bytes may just have been optimized).
