VMB8IN en Energy Monitoring Settings

Hallo,

Mvg

Hi

Sorry for the reply in English.

A. Do you see pulses in the LEDs of the VMB8IN to confirm that the VMB8IN is working well with the Finder ?

B. If you use the Energy Wizard do you get the results you’d expect there?

C. Change the Edge Light colour change to the follow action you want with the relay.

If those steps don’t work, we can look deeper into the issue.

Good luck.
Stuart

Hoi

Stuart

Hello Stuart,

Thanks for the quick reply. The wizard apparently only works with the VMB7IN not the new VMB8IN.

The leds for CH1 (Consumption) and CH2 (Injection) are on. The led to the left is blinking.
Not sure what these leds should do. Is there a manual for the VMB8IN?

Thanks

Wouter

No problem, I just happened to check in

Can you post a support request for this at
https://help.velbus.eu

Are they “on” all the time or do they flash?

They should flash in time with the consumption

By the fact that both LEDs are on, I’d gamble that they aren’t wired up correctly.

IE, you can’t be importing at the same time as exporting.

I really should wire up the one I have here, purely so that I know first hand if the Finder unit should be fed with 0V or +Vcc.

This diagram suggests that you’ve connected it up correctly.

Does the Finder unit need to be configured?
I seem to remember reading that somewhere.

But saying that

I think…

You’ve got your 0V reference and pulse returns wired in backwards.

Try swapping them over.

IE
Orange to 1-
Orange & White to 1 in

Green to 2-
Green & White to 2 in

Is there a manual for anything these days?

I restarted/resetted/disconnected/switched the + en - the module. The Consumption channel is blinking now but the injection channel stays on constantly even when I disconnect it from the Finder. Start wondering if this module is working correctly. I will contact the help website from velbus.

Excellent :tada:
“The counting can commence”

What happens if you move green & white to 3 in ?

Is it the input channel that is broken?

Or is it that the Finder unit holds the input active until it senses that the current is flowing in the opposite direction?

Can I suggest you wait until tomorrow when the sun is shining brightly? :sun_with_face:

Thanks for the suggestion. Don’t expect to much sun this week

Problem is solved. I configured the counters wrong.
I did this

instead of this

I also found an interesting doc describing how these led should behave on the different modules: https://cdn.velleman.eu/downloads/velbus/00_general/led_behavior_of_vmbxxx-20_series_din-rail_modules.pdf
When an alarm is activated on a counter the led of the counter input stays on
