VMBGP2-20 - how to switch off led backlight?

I use those settings, yet there backlight is ON: I tried to write not only changes, didn’t make any difference.

I guess an important question is: what do you think the backlight is? For my (admittedly non -20 panels) this does indeed work correctly – I can turn on and off the LEDs on the panel when all of the associated actions are inactive. However this does not control the behaviour of these LEDs when the actions are active – that’s feedback.

A quick way to check for backlight operation is to restart the panel (right click on module → restart/reboot or whatever.) This is because on a fresh boot the module won’t have knowledge about the state of the other modules yet. A more involved option is to temporarily remove all actions from the panel (and then restart the panel module.) If backlight works as expected with panel restarted/actions removed, then backlight does work correctly and what you’re seeing is a feedback LED.

Thanks for the reply - I want to have the leds off when the lights the switch is controlling are off. It works like that with the GPOD (older version) that I have in the same room. But with the vmbgp2-20 the leds are on when the lights are off. When I switch on the lights - the leds gets brighter. I’ll try the restart.

Edit: restart - no change. I tried a few different settings and I’m getting fairly sure that switching off of the backlight doesn’t work. It can be set to minimum, but not switched off completely. I tried to switch it off for one button and leave on for the other - they both look exactly the same.

@PrzemoF

Are you confusing Ambient colours with feedback colours?

Try setting your ambient colours tooff and your Feedback colours to what ever you want.

Then you only need a single action between the button and the thing you want to control.

(Don’t use any actions that refer to the ambient colours, that’s something very different  )

Configure ->Touch panel → General → Feedback mode → in the LED Mode, double click on Feedback and change it to Monitoring

Ambient? Wow, you got me confused now . I can’t find anything that would have word ambient in the Settings. But I found this:

It allows to switch off the feedback completely and it works OK. But I need to switch off the backlight…

Thanks, but that’s feedback. I want the leds to be completely off. Like I have on gpod2. That doesn’t seem to be possible. The option is there (my opening post), but it doesn’t switch the leds off.

I’m 99.9% convinced I found a bug. Changing the intensity of backlight works, but not switching it off.

Sorry, my mistake.

You’re referring to GP panels, not EL panels

Yes, that should do the trick

It works, but it doesn’t allow to switch the leds completely.

I can’t remember exactly what is on the Backlight tab, but OFF should be an option.

If the lights are still on, please do report it as a bug.

I’ll see if I’ve got some in stock tomorrow and see what happens with them.

The option is there (see the snip in the first post), but it doesn’t work. Bug reported.

Hello @PrzemoF

Please update your VMBGP2-20 module to latest firmware build: normally it will work to switch off the backlight (night indication).

I’ve test it on new module with first release fw build 2351 (backlight off setting not working). Then
update to last FW build 2413, and it works correct.
