Write and Read mdule

I’ve connect VMBRSUSB to VelbusLink 8.7.0.2380 ( S.O. Windows 7 64 bit) with USB port

I’ve some module connected ( relay, dimmer, button… ) and I see all in Navigator windows

but I’ve unable to Read or Write change to module with error "Tranfer failed for module… " “Do you want to retry”

If I see Logging page there is some In an Out row

Does the transfer fail for all modules or only for a particular module? If only for one module, please specify the type and build so we can verify.

Were you reading or writing?

Did you set a terminator on one of your modules? If so, where?

Please also check your wiring, check that everything is connected properly and that the terminator is set correctly, because in 99% of cases this is a wiring problem.

The problem is on all module (7).

I use 1 terminator to the last and fist module, I’ve try also only the first but is the same problem.

Wiring use cat5e cable, 1 pair for bus and 1 pair for 13 volt.

I use all mode avaible to write or read but don’t go on.

You may set a terminator in the first and last modules, or only in the last module.

You definitely have a wiring problem, so you will need to check for loose cables, or for the BUS L and BUS H cables that have been switched around.

One of these situations will give exactly the problem that you describe.

I’ve try only 2 module: VMB4PD and VMB8IR
but there is the same problem.

The bus cable is correct and terminator is on VMB8IR

Velbuslink recognize two module and show it in Navigator window but Read and Write show error transfer failed

Is your USB interface wired correctly?

I’ve VMBRSUSB connected with USB cable to pc, led USB on interface is ON

It list well all module but don’t read or write

I can operate from Velbuslink to relay an blink buttons

Please make absolutely sure that everything is wired properly, disconnect and reconnect if necessary. The led on the USB interface will also be on if BUS L and BUS H are not connected properly.

  • Try a basic setup with your VMBRSUSB, and one VMB4PD. Put the terminator on the USB interface.
  • Start a new project in VelbusLink, perform a scan (to get the correct build number), and read all memory.
  • Try reading one module at a time if you have multiple modules, to exclude problems with only one module

(Also, don’t use the USB and RS232 sides at the same time, but I doubt that this is the case…)

VMBRSUSB dont have terminator jumper

I’ve connect VMB4PD only, new project put terminator on VMB4PD
with new scan I recognize module, update time on it from my pc
but don’t read or write

USB led is always on
RX and TX led on VMB4PD blink when scan
Logging list have some IN and OUT line

At last I’ve solve problem

I take old pc with windows 2000 pro with serial interface

I’ve install velbuslink and it run read and write very well

With USB cable ( and the same pc ) it read only but don’t write change

Now I can configure all module without problem, wonderfull

I still don’t understand what an USB cable has to do with a serial interface…

Have you move some Velbus wires when changing your USB cable ?
Maybe a false contact which modify impedance or something else ?

I agree with VEL448 : USB Cable is physical only and if it works with a PC, it should works with an other…
